Santa Rosa RallyX – CRS Points and Rallycross School

The All 4 Fun Racing school at Santa Rosa Fairgrounds runs over three days in April — Friday evening classroom, Saturday full-day in-car instruction, Sunday competition. It’s built for people who have been curious about rallycross but haven’t pulled the trigger: too expensive, too intimidating, not sure where to start. None of those hold here. You bring your own car, borrow a helmet if you need one, and spend two days learning car control on dirt from drivers who include regional and state champions.

Friday evening is a classroom session led by Donnie Smith covering how a rallycross weekend actually works — registration, race-day flow, car setup, and what the path looks like from rallycross into rallysprint or stage rally. Saturday puts instructors in your passenger seat for a full day of hands-on driving: cornering, sliding, weight transfer, getting comfortable with what a car does when the surface stops gripping. Sunday is a live California Race Series points event.

Arizona Snowbird US Majors

The Arizona Snowbird US Majors is Arizona Region SCCA’s largest racing weekend of the year, held at the Podium Club at ATTESA in Casa Grande, AZ. This is a pure wheel-to-wheel racing event — no HPDE, no track days, no time trials. Two series run concurrently across the weekend:

US Majors Tour is a national SCCA points series for club racers competing toward qualification for the SCCA Runoffs — the national amateur road racing championship. Entry fee is $500. The format includes two qualifying sessions, a 20-minute Saturday race, and a Sunday race of 25 laps or 40 minutes.

Formula Ford the Series – Restricted Regional runs alongside the Majors for Formula Ford competitors. Entry fee is $299. The format includes two qualifying sessions, a 20-minute Saturday race, and a 25-minute Sunday race. Double Dip options are available for drivers competing in both series.

An optional Friday Test & Tune is hosted by the Podium Club ahead of race weekend. Full-day sessions are $300; half-day sessions (morning or afternoon) are $200 each. Payment is collected at the track.

All competitors must conform to the 2026 SCCA General Competition Rules, run a functioning AMB transponder, and display official SCCA stickers on each side and the nose of the car. Cars without a current SCCA logbook will receive a full tech inspection before going on track. Camping is permitted at the track with no hookups. Live timing available via SpeedHive.

SCCA Arizona Region rallycross at the Camp Verde Equestrian Center (1495 E Hideout Arena Ln, Camp Verde, AZ), organized by the Arizona Rally Association.

Two championship rounds in one weekend. Saturday is an invitational practice session; Sunday is the points competition, capped at 60 cars. Cars run one at a time on a dirt course marked with cones.

Autocross is a timed competition where drivers navigate a course marked by cones on a paved surface, one car at a time against the clock. Speeds stay well below highway speed — the emphasis is on car control, precision, and consistency rather than outright pace.

This is a work/run event: all drivers are required to work a corner or similar assignment when not competing. BMW Club Autocross

The San Diego Chapter of the BMW Car Club of America runs autocross events at the North Island Credit Union Amphitheater parking lot in Chula Vista — a large paved lot that gives course designers plenty of room to work with. The format is a departure from the traditional SCCA work/run structure: SD BMW CCA provides its own corner workers, so drivers register for one or more hourly sessions and drive without work assignments. It’s a detail that lowers the barrier considerably for first-timers.

Cars are classed by model, year, and modifications rather than the SCCA’s more granular solo classing system, which keeps things accessible without sacrificing competition. You don’t need to drive a BMW to participate — non-BMW entries run in their own class and are welcome at every event. Instructors are on hand throughout the day and ride-alongs are encouraged — a useful option if you want to see the course from the passenger seat before your first run. BMW CCA membership is required to participate, though joining is open to any car enthusiast regardless of what they drive.
