National Auto Sport Association SoCal – Buttonwillow Raceway (Classic)
October 10 - October 11

National Auto Sport Association Southern California Buttonwillow Classic Track or Treat weekend at Buttonwillow Raceway Park in Buttonwillow, CA. One of the premier road course facilities in central California, Buttonwillow offers a varied and technical layout that rewards smooth, consistent driving. On-site tire and dyno services are available throughout the weekend, and Grip-N-Drift sim racing will be set up Saturday and Sunday for drivers to compete for lap times between sessions. The event offers three participation formats:
**High Performance Driving Education (HPDE)** gives drivers the opportunity to learn and develop track driving skills in a safe, professionally staffed environment. All four HPDE groups run Saturday and Sunday. HPDE 1 guarantees an in-car instructor for drivers new to track events; HPDE 2 is for drivers signed off to run independently at HPDE 1 speeds; HPDE 3 builds toward more open passing; HPDE 4 is for advanced drivers with open passing and requires pre-approval from the group leader. Drivers who have not participated in NASA SoCal HPDE 4 within the last two years and do not hold a valid NASA license must contact [email protected] for screening and approval before registering.
**Time Trial** is for licensed competitors running against the clock. All Time Trial drivers are required to have a transponder — transponder rentals are available but not provided to HPDE 1 and 2 groups. A current NASA Time Trial or Competition license is required. Drivers new to NASA SoCal Time Trial must contact [email protected] for pre-approval. Note: TT Street will not be offered at NASA SoCal events in 2026.
**Sprint Racing** is wheel-to-wheel competition in organized race groups. A current 2026 NASA Competition Racing license and approved medical on file with NASA are required. Online registration is discounted up to 10 days prior to the event — Race and Time Trial entry fees increase by $75 after that, and registration at the track includes an additional $100 fee.
Gate hours are 24 hours; the premises must be vacated by 7pm Sunday. Tech opens Friday 2–5pm and from 7am Saturday and Sunday. Initial tech certification with logbook is $45 cash; season renewal with a valid prior-year tech sticker is $35 cash. Helmet rentals are available for $30 cash on a first-come, first-served basis and include a new balaclava. A digital waiver is required for all participants and will be sent via text message upon registration — complete it before the event to avoid delays getting on track.
Guests and spectators are welcome at no charge but are not permitted in HPDE classroom or download sessions. Minors must have a parent or guardian present for the entirety of their participation. NASA membership is required — annual memberships and event registration are available at members.drivenasa.com.
